BOOKING & CONSULTATIONS

Ready to Get Started?

Find answers to the most common questions about how to book your appointment, what to expect at your consultation, deposit requirements, cancellation policies, and whether walk-ins are welcome.

  • How do I book an appointment?
You can book through our Contact page at /contact, call us at (573) 355-2230, or stop by the studio during business hours (Monday–Sunday, 12 PM–10 PM). We recommend reaching out in advance to discuss your design concept and secure a time slot with your preferred artist.
  • Is a deposit required to book?
Yes. A non-refundable deposit is required to hold your appointment. The deposit amount varies depending on the size and complexity of your tattoo and will be applied toward the total cost of your session. Deposits secure your artist's time and your design concept.
  • What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
We ask for at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice will forfeit the deposit. Rescheduling with sufficient notice will allow your deposit to transfer to the new appointment date.
  • Do you accept walk-ins?
Yes, walk-ins are welcome! Our studio is open Monday through Sunday, 12 PM–10 PM. Walk-in availability depends on artist schedules on any given day, so we always recommend calling ahead at (573) 355-2230 to check availability before visiting.
  • What happens during a consultation?
Your consultation is a conversation with your artist about your tattoo idea — placement, size, style, and any reference imagery you bring. It's completely free and is your chance to collaborate on a custom design before committing to a session date.
  • How long does a tattoo session take?
Session length depends on the size, detail level, and placement of your tattoo. A small piece may take 1–2 hours, while a full sleeve is completed over multiple sessions spanning several months. Your artist will give you a time estimate during the consultation.
  • How painful is getting a tattoo?
Pain levels vary by individual and placement. Bony areas such as ribs, spine, hands, and feet tend to be more sensitive. Fleshy areas like the upper arm, thigh, and outer calf are generally more comfortable. Our artists work at a pace that keeps you as comfortable as possible throughout your session.
  • What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring a valid photo ID, your deposit confirmation, and any reference images or design inspiration you'd like to share. Wear clothing that gives easy access to the tattoo placement area. If your session is long, bring a snack and headphones — comfort matters.
  • How should I prepare before my session?
Get a full night's sleep, eat a solid meal within 2 hours of your appointment, stay hydrated, and avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours beforehand. Moisturize the skin in the tattoo area for several days leading up to your session, and avoid sunburn on the placement area.
  • What happens on the day of my session?
Your artist will finalize the design, print a stencil, and place it on your skin for approval before any needles are used. Once you're happy with placement and sizing, the tattooing begins. You can take breaks as needed. Your artist will walk you through aftercare instructions before you leave.

THE TATTOO PROCESS

What to Expect in the Chair

From your first session to final touches, here's everything you need to know about what happens before, during, and after your tattoo. Knowing what to expect helps you arrive prepared and enjoy the experience.

AFTERCARE & HEALING

Protect Your Investment

Proper aftercare is just as important as the tattoo itself. Follow your artist's instructions carefully to ensure clean healing, vibrant color retention, and a result that lasts a lifetime.

  • What are the basic aftercare instructions?
Keep the area clean and dry for the first 24 hours. After that, gently wash with fragrance-free soap, pat dry, and apply a thin layer of unscented moisturizer or tattoo-specific aftercare balm 2–3 times daily. Avoid soaking in water, direct sunlight, and picking or scratching the area while it heals.
  • How long does a tattoo take to heal?
Surface healing typically takes 2–4 weeks. Full dermal healing can take 3–6 months depending on the size, placement, ink density, and your individual skin. During this time, the tattoo may appear dull or cloudy — this is normal and resolves as the deeper layers of skin heal.
  • Can I go swimming or exercise after getting tattooed?
Avoid swimming pools, lakes, oceans, and hot tubs for at least 3–4 weeks, as prolonged water exposure can cause ink loss and infection risk. Light exercise is okay after 48 hours, but avoid activities that cause heavy sweating directly over the fresh tattoo, and keep gym equipment clean away from the area.
  • Do you offer touch-ups?
Yes. We stand behind our work. Touch-ups for fading or uneven healing within the normal healing window are handled on a case-by-case basis by your artist. Touch-ups are generally complimentary for issues related to the tattooing process itself; those caused by improper aftercare may be subject to a small fee.
  • How do I care for my tattoo long-term?
Once fully healed, keep your tattoo moisturized daily and always apply SPF 30+ sunscreen when the area will be exposed to sunlight. UV exposure is the primary cause of fading over time. Staying hydrated and maintaining healthy skin will help your tattoo look vivid for years to come.
  • How is tattoo pricing determined?
Pricing is based on several factors: size, placement, complexity of design, number of colors, and time required. Highly detailed pieces such as realism portraits, intricate sleeves, and complex cover-ups require more time and expertise, which is reflected in the price. Your artist will provide an accurate estimate during your consultation.
  • Is there a minimum charge?
Yes. Our studio minimum covers the cost of setup, sterilization, ink, and your artist's time regardless of tattoo size. Even very small tattoos require the same preparation and sterile environment. Please contact us or visit the studio for our current minimum rate.
  • What factors can increase the cost of a tattoo?
Cost increases with the size of the piece, density of detail, number of ink colors, difficult placement (such as hands, neck, or ribs), and the experience level of the artist you choose. Custom original artwork commands a premium over flash designs. Cover-up work also typically costs more due to the technical challenge involved.
  • What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, major credit and debit cards, and popular digital payment apps. Deposits are typically collected at the time of booking. Please ask about accepted payment methods when you schedule, as availability may vary. Gratuity for your artist is always appreciated and can be given separately.
  • Can I get a price quote before my appointment?
Absolutely. We encourage you to reach out via our Contact page, give us a call at (573) 355-2230, or visit the studio for a free consultation. Bring your reference images and describe your idea — your artist will give you a realistic price range before you commit to anything.
